Summary of CV
I am an Applied Scientist and Technologist with a large international professional
experience in R&D in the field of instrumentation for particle physics and Radio-Frequency
(RF) accelerators. I have played a leading role in coordinating, designing, developing
and commissioning scientific instrumentation at different particle physics experiments and
laboratories in different areas such as: applications of RF particle accelerators; analog, digital
and power electronics for particle physics and beam instrumentation; control, data acquisition,
environmental monitoring, power systems for particle physics experiments.
Marie Curie Postdoc at IFIC and CERN Beam RF (2015-now)
CERN Project associate in a collaboration project between the CERN CLIC group and IFIC
for the transfer of the normal-conducting high-gradient acceleration technology to hadrontherapy
applications: design and construction of the CLIC X-Band (12 GHz) test facilities at
CERN and the S-Band (3 GHz) facility at the Valencia IFIMED RF‑lab.
In 2017, I obtained a Marie-Curie Individual Fellowship and since then I am the scientific
coordinator of construction, commissioning and exploitation of the IFIC RF-lab. This is a
unique world-wide facility, where we plan to develop the high-gradient technology in S-Band,
which will permit constructing compact accelerating cavities for commercial applications and
other enabling diagnostic detectors.
CERN Beam instrumentation (2014-2015)
CERN Project associate at the BE/BI group. Development of high-speed digital readout and
RF electronics for the LHC fast beam-current intensity detectors.
DEPFET collaboration of Belle-II and ILC (2011-2014)
Postdoc at IFIC (Valencia). R&D on the construction of DEPFET detectors for the Belle-
II pixel detector: development of a system to characterize the DEPFET modules; I opened
a collaboration with Valencia's Nanophotonics Technology Center for the development and
optimization of the flip-chip process and X-ray inspection of the modules.
LHCb experiment (2003-2011)
At the U. of Santiago de Compostela I realized my PhD ( FPI fellowship). I played a major
role in the design, construction and commissioning of the Silicon Tracker detector where I
became one of the detector hardware coordinators. I was the responsible of design and
construction of: the control electronics; the low voltage and high voltage systems; the design
of the control software and coordinator of the team that performed the implementation;
production and testing of the ‘detector boxes’ and commissioning of the detector; involved in
irradiation campaigns of electronic components and silicon sensors.
I was also engaged at the upgrade of the LHCb VErtex LOcator detector: test-beam
commissioning for silicon micro-strip detectors and thinned silicon pixel sensors; design and
development of a high-speed data link.
From 2008-2011 I was rewarded with one of the 6 Spanish CPAN (National Center for Particle
Physics) contracts for coordinators and experts at the LHC experiments. I was responsible
coordinator of operation, hardware and control software at the LHCb experiment.
